# Content Hub generation failed or content is not ready

Resolve Content Hub access blocks, unready episodes, and failed text, outline, or clip runs.

Use this article when Content Hub does not open or an episode shows **Content not ready**. Also use it when a text or an outline stays at **Queued** or ends with **Failed**, or when Clipper does not return suggestions. In the Podigee workspace, use it when a tool in the **Amplify** section of an episode is locked, shows **Content needed**, or shows a failure.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="Classic view" %}

### Protect your work

* A failed generation does not delete anything. The draft stays in the catalog and you can regenerate it.
* Do not delete a draft that reads **Generating**. Wait until it reads **Completed** or **Failed**.

### Find the cause

1. If Content Hub does not open, read the page or the message that Podigee shows instead.
2. In the source picker, check the episode status: **Ready for AI** or **Content not ready**.
3. Check the status of the draft: **Queued**, **Generating**, **Completed**, or **Failed**.
4. Read the error text on the page.

![Text Composer in Content Hub with the Source section, the Podcast and Episode selectors, the Format list, and the Generation Options](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-217fef919b67c4c4f1f018474c07a2f3a91766aa%2Fdoc-production-014-classic-text-composer-source.png?alt=media)

The source picker of Text Composer shows the episode status next to each episode in the Episode list.

#### If the episode reads "Content not ready"

Content Hub needs a prepared transcript of the episode. Podigee prepares the transcript in the background when you open Ask Podie or ask Clipper or Quote Finder for suggestions. The page then reads **Preparing episode content...** and continues by itself when the transcript is ready. An episode without audio reads **This episode doesn't have audio yet. Please upload audio first.** Upload the audio on the **Media Files** tab first.

#### If a text stays at "Queued" or "Generating"

Text Composer and Outline Creator generate in the background. The page updates the status by itself. Podigee retries a generation by itself after a temporary error of the AI service.

1. Keep the page open or return later. While the draft is pending, the page refuses edits and downloads with **This asset is currently being generated. Please wait until it is finished.**
2. If the status does not change for a long time, open the draft from the catalog later. Do not create a second draft for the same episode in the meantime.

#### If a text ends with "Failed"

1. Select **Regenerate Content**, optionally with an instruction such as "Make it shorter".
2. If the generation fails again, shorten the custom instructions or change the format and try again.
3. If the message reads **AI features are not available. Please upgrade your plan.**, the plan of the podcast owner no longer includes Content Hub.

#### If an outline ends with an error

* **AI service temporarily unavailable. Please try again.**: try again later.
* **Outline generation failed. Please try again.**: reduce the number of uploaded files or pasted sources and try again. Uploaded files are limited to PDF, TXT, and MD files of up to 10 MB each.
* **AI service authentication failed. Please check your API credentials.**: you cannot fix this error. Contact Podigee Support.

#### If a PDF download fails

The page reads **Failed to generate PDF. Please try again.** Try the download again. For a text, use **Markdown** or **Copy** as an alternative.

#### If Clipper returns no suggestions

1. Confirm that the episode reads **Ready for AI**. If not, wait for the preparation as described above.
2. Select **Find Best Clips** again, optionally with **Custom instructions**.
3. If you edited the start or end time of a clip, export the clip again. A change of the start or end time removes the previous rendering.
4. If Clipper reads **You've used all your clips this month**, see [You reached a plan limit](/documentation/connect-and-administer/troubleshooting/you-reached-a-plan-limit.md).

### Expected result

The episode reads **Ready for AI**, the draft reads **Completed**, and Clipper lists between one and five suggestions with a title and the reason **Why this clip:**.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Podigee workspace" %}
In the Podigee workspace, the Content Hub tools are in the **Amplify** section of the episode page: **Create clips**, **Find quotes**, and **Create text**. Each tool page shows if the episode content is ready, lets you prepare the content, and shows the cause of a failure with the next action. The workspace does not include outlines, Ask Podie, the Content Hub dashboard, the catalog with the PDF export of catalog assets, Content Packs, and brand guardrails. Use the classic view for these tools. You also cannot add a recording to an episode in the workspace.

The plan of the podcast owner decides which tools you get, also when you are a member of an organization. A member also needs the **Content Hub** permission. The organization owner switches it on in the classic view. **Create clips** also needs clips that are left in the monthly clip allowance of the plan.

### Protect your work

* A failure does not delete anything. A failed draft stays in **Your drafts** with the status **Needs attention**. A failed clip stays in **Your clips** with the button **Render again**.
* Remove a clip only when you do not need it. A removed clip still counts toward the clip allowance of this month.

### Find the cause

1. Open the episode and go to the **Amplify** section. On the **Overview** page, you can also select **Repurpose: \[episode title]**.
2. Read the pill on the card of the tool. **Ready** means that you can open the tool. **Not available** or **Not available yet** means that the tool is locked. The text below the pill gives the cause.
3. Select **Open tool** on the card of the tool.
4. Read the pill in the head of the create card: **Create a draft**, **Find moments**, or **Find quotes**. The pill shows **Content ready**, **Content queued**, **Preparing content**, **Content needed**, or **Recording needed**.
5. If the page shows a red alert, read the alert and the text below it. The text below the alert tells you what to do.
6. Read the status of the item in **Your drafts** or **Your clips**. A draft shows **Preparing**, **Queued**, **Creating**, **Ready**, or **Needs attention**. A clip shows **Ready to render**, **Queued**, **Rendering**, **Ready**, or **Needs attention**.

The buttons of a tool stay active when the content is not ready. If you use a tool before the pill shows **Content ready**, the tool refuses the task or the draft fails. **Create text** does not check the content before it starts a draft.

### Prepare the episode content

Do this task when a tool page shows **Content needed**, or when a failure shows "The episode content has not been prepared yet."

1. On the tool page, find the notice "Episode content is needed" or the failure text.
2. Select **Prepare episode content** below the notice or the failure text.
3. Read the green notice at the top of the page.
4. Wait some minutes. Then open the tool page again. The pill changes from **Content queued** to **Preparing content** and then to **Content ready**.

![The Create text page of an episode in the Podigee workspace with the pill Content needed, the notice Episode content is needed, and the Prepare episode content button](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-778629f2899524b81fa69aa26b8534ed9924ffcb%2Fdoc-troubleshooting-009-workspace-prepare.png?alt=media)

The readiness notice of a tool page shows Prepare episode content when the episode content is needed.

Podigee starts the preparation only one time for each episode. Another click does not start a second preparation.

### Try the tool again

1. Wait until the pill shows **Content ready**.
2. Do the step that failed again:
   * For a failed draft, select **Try again** below the failure text.
   * For a failed clip, select **Render again** on the card of the clip.
   * For failed suggestions, select **Find moments** or **Find quotes** again.
3. Check each result before you use it. Drafts, clip suggestions, and quote suggestions are proposals from Podigee. They can contain errors.

### Expected result

* The pill in the create card shows **Content ready**, and the card shows no notice.
* After **Prepare episode content**, Podigee shows one of these notices:
  * "The episode content is being prepared. This can take a few minutes."
  * "The episode content is already being prepared."
  * "The episode content is ready."
* After a new draft, Podigee shows "Content generation started." The draft then shows **Ready**.
* After a new rendering, Podigee shows "Clip rendering started." The clip then shows **Ready** and the button **Download**.
* The list **Created from this episode** in the **Amplify** section shows the item with the status **Ready**.

### If you cannot complete the task

#### The create card shows a notice

* **Content needed** with "Episode content is needed" and "Prepare this episode before creating clips.", "Prepare this episode before finding quotes.", or "Prepare this episode before creating a draft.": select **Prepare episode content**.
* **Recording needed** with "A recording is needed" and "Add a recording before creating clips.", "Add a recording before finding quotes.", or "Add a recording before creating a draft.": the episode has no audio. Upload the audio in the classic view on the **Media Files** tab.
* **Content queued** with "Episode content is queued" and "Come back when preparation has started.": wait. Then open the tool page again.
* **Preparing content** with "Episode content is being prepared" and "Come back when preparation has finished.": wait. Then open the tool page again. If the pill does not change for some hours, the preparation possibly failed. **Prepare episode content** then shows "The episode content is already being prepared." and does not start it again. Contact Podigee Support.

#### Prepare episode content is refused

* "You cannot prepare content for this episode.": your plan or your access does not include the tools for this show. See "A tool is locked" below.
* "Add a recording to this episode first.": upload the audio in the classic view on the **Media Files** tab.

#### A tool shows a red alert

* **Create text**: "Content generation could not start."
* A failed draft in **Your drafts** shows "The episode content was not ready yet. Try again once it is." or "The draft could not be written. Try again." Below this line, the draft shows the text that tells you what to do and the button **Try again**.
* **Create text**: "The export did not work. Try again.": export the draft again.
* **Create clips**: "Clip suggestions could not be created.", "The clip could not be saved.", or "Clip rendering could not start."
* **Create clips**: "Check the times: write them like 1:30, with the end after the start.": correct the start time and the end time of the clip.
* **Find quotes**: "Quote suggestions need the episode content, which is not ready yet. Try again once it is." or "Quote suggestions could not be created. Try again, or change the quote type or what the quotes should focus on."
* **Find quotes**: "The quote could not be saved."

The text below the alert or below the failure line tells you what to do:

* "This episode has no recording yet.": upload the audio in the classic view on the **Media Files** tab.
* "The episode content has not been prepared yet.": select **Prepare episode content**.
* "The episode content is still being prepared. Try again when it shows "Content ready".": wait until the pill shows **Content ready**. Then try again.
* "Your plan or your access did not include this tool when it ran. Try again.": try again. If the tool is locked now, see "A tool is locked" below.
* "This is already being created. It appears here when it is ready.": wait. Do not start the same task again.
* "The service behind this tool did not answer. Try again in a few minutes.": wait some minutes. Then try again.
* "If it fails again, contact support.": try again. If it fails again, select **Contact support** to write an email to Podigee Support.
* No text below the alert: the page shows the cause at another place, for example at the times of the clip or on the card of the clip.

#### A clip does not render

The card of the clip shows **Needs attention** with one of these texts and the button **Render again**:

* "This episode has no video. Create this moment again as an audiogram.": create the clip again with **Vertical audiogram**, **Square audiogram**, or **Horizontal audiogram**.
* "Video formats cannot be rendered right now. Try an audiogram format, or try again later.": create the clip again with an audiogram format, or select **Render again** later.
* "Rendering did not finish. Render it again.": select **Render again**.

#### The clip allowance is used

* The alert "The monthly clip allowance is exhausted." shows with "The allowance resets on \[date]." or "More clips this month need a larger allowance.":
  * If you are the owner, select **See plans**. The plan page opens in the classic view. Or wait until the date.
  * If you are a member, select **Ask \[owner name]** or **Ask the show owner** to write an email to the owner. When the owner has no email address, the page shows no button.
* The introduction in the **Amplify** section shows the allowance: "Clips this month: \[remaining] of \[included] left. The allowance resets on \[date]." Plans without a monthly limit show no line. After you select **Hide introduction**, the line does not show.
* See [You reached a plan limit](/documentation/connect-and-administer/troubleshooting/you-reached-a-plan-limit.md).

#### A tool is locked

The card of the tool and the tool page show one of these texts:

* **Not available** with "Your plan does not include clips.", "Your plan does not include quotes.", or "Your plan does not include written posts." and "Upgrade to create them.": you are the owner, and your plan does not include the tool. Select **See plans**. The plan page opens in the classic view.
* **Not available** with "This account's plan does not include clips.", "This account's plan does not include quotes.", or "This account's plan does not include written posts." and "\[owner name] decides the plan." or "The account owner decides the plan.": the plan of the owner does not include the tool. Select **Ask \[owner name]** or **Ask the show owner** to write an email to the owner. When the owner has no email address, the page shows no button.
* **Not available** with "You do not have access to clips.", "You do not have access to quotes.", or "You do not have access to written posts." and "\[owner name] can give you access." or "The account owner can give you access.": the organization owner did not switch on **Content Hub** for you, or this show is not one of your shows. Select **Ask \[owner name]** or **Ask the show owner**. When you only collaborate on the show of another person, the page shows no button. Content Hub is not available on these shows.
* **Not available yet** with "We are still building this": the tool is not available for your account yet. There is no action.
* The **Amplify** section shows no tool cards: your account has no plan of its own. See the classic view tab.

#### The list does not update

* The list **Created from this episode** shows "Automatic updates have paused. Reload the page to check again.": reload the page.
  {% endtab %}
  {% endtabs %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podigee.com/documentation/connect-and-administer/troubleshooting/content-hub-generation-failed-or-content-is-not-ready.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
