# Submit to Apple Podcasts

Submit to Apple Podcasts, link a podcast that is already listed, set a claim token, or archive it.

Use this task to list your podcast on Apple Podcasts from the **Exports** tab. With the same tile, you can link a podcast that you published with your own Apple Podcasts Connect account. You can also set a claim token, and archive or unarchive the podcast.

## Before you start

* You need the owner, admin, or editor role for the podcast, with permission to edit the podcast.
* Automated submission needs a paid plan on the account of the podcast owner. The free Launch plan does not include it.
* The podcast must be published and must not be restricted to invited listeners.
* At least one episode must be published and publicly available.
* The cover image must be square and between 1400 and 3000 pixels.

{% tab title="Classic view" %}

### Submit the podcast

1. Open the podcast and select the **Exports** tab.
2. In the **Audio** section, select the **Apple Podcasts** tile.
3. Read the text. Submission confirms that your podcast does not contain third-party content and that you agree to the Apple Podcasts terms and conditions.
4. Select **Submit**.

Podigee creates the podcast at Apple with your MP3 feed URL and requests publication. The tile shows **Pending**. When Apple lists the podcast, the tile shows **Published** and the text **Your podcast has been published to Apple Podcasts.**

### Link a podcast that is already on Apple Podcasts

Use this path when you published the podcast with your own Apple Podcasts Connect account.

1. Open the **Apple Podcasts** tile.
2. Select **If your podcast is already on Apple Podcasts, click here**.
3. Enter the numeric podcast ID in **Apple Podcasts ID**. The field accepts 9 to 10 digits. Do not enter an email address.
4. Select **Save**.

The tile links to `https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id<ID>`.

### Set a claim token

When you claim a podcast in Apple Podcasts Connect, Apple can ask you to prove that you control the feed.

1. Open the **Apple Podcasts** tile after the submission.
2. Select **If you want to set a claim token for your podcast, click here**.
3. Enter the token from Apple.
4. Select **Save**.

Podigee writes the token into your RSS feed. Apple reads it from there.

### Archive or unarchive the podcast

1. Open the **Apple Podcasts** tile.
2. Select **If you want to archive your podcast on Apple Podcasts, click here**.
3. Read the warning **Archiving will remove your podcast from Apple Podcasts for listeners.**
4. Select **Archive podcast**.

To list the podcast again, open the tile and select **Unarchive podcast**. Podigee submits the podcast again, and the tile returns to **Pending**.

### Expected result

The **Apple Podcasts** tile shows **Published**. Listeners find your podcast in Apple Podcasts, and the web player and the podcast website can show an Apple Podcasts button.

### If you cannot complete the task

* The tile shows a lock icon: the account of the podcast owner is on a plan without automated submissions. The link to a podcast that you published yourself needs the same plan. Upgrade the plan.
* **Submit** is disabled: publish one episode, and check the cover image size.
* The tile shows **The podcast cannot be published on Apple Podcasts as long as there are only unpublished or scheduled episodes.**: publish one episode and try again.
* The status stays **Pending**: Apple did not list the podcast yet. Do not submit again.
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Podigee workspace" %}
The workspace offers Apple Podcasts only while you publish the first episode of a new podcast. The flow has the steps **Recording**, **Show**, **Episode**, and **Publish**. The **Apple Podcasts** card saves the claim token for the show. It does not submit the podcast and does not publish the episode. For an existing podcast, the workspace has no Apple Podcasts action. Submission, the link to a listed podcast, and archive or unarchive happen in the classic view.

### Complete the task

1. In the show selector, select **Add a new show**. The page **Drop your recording.** opens.
2. Drop the file on **Drop your video or audio file here**, or select **Choose a file**.
3. Wait until the page shows **Draft progress** and **Prepare destinations**. The note reads **Nothing publishes or submits externally until you review and confirm.**
4. Find the **Apple Podcasts** card. It shows **Needs action** and **Save the Apple claim token here. This will not publish this episode.**
5. Select **Set up Apple Podcasts**. The card opens the guide **Get the token from Apple.** with the links **Open Apple Podcasts Connect** and **Read Podigee's claim guide**.
6. Select **Open Apple Podcasts Connect** and sign in with the Apple account that manages the show.
7. In Apple Podcasts Connect, claim the existing show with your feed. Apple shows a claim token.
8. Copy the token. For the steps in Podigee, select **Show steps**.
9. Paste the token into **Claim token**.
10. Select **Save claim token**.
11. To skip Apple Podcasts for now, select **Connect later** instead. The card reads **You can set up Apple Podcasts after the draft review.** Select **Set up** to open the card again.
12. Select **Review draft details** and complete the **Show** and **Episode** steps.
13. In the **Publish** step, select **Publish episode** or **Schedule episode**.

Podigee writes the token into your RSS feed. Apple reads it from there, as after the claim token step in the classic view.

### Expected result

The **Apple Podcasts** card shows **Connected** and **Apple Podcasts is set up for this draft.** The open card confirms **Apple Podcasts is set up** and **A claim token is saved for this show. Apple can verify it from the podcast feed.** To change the token, open **Replace or remove the saved token**, paste the new token, and select **Update claim token**. To remove the token, leave the field empty and save.

### If you cannot complete the task

* The card shows **Coming later** and **Apple setup will be available here soon.**: the show does not exist yet, or the Apple Podcasts setup is not available for this show. Continue with the flow, and submit the podcast on the **Exports** tab in the classic view.
* The card shows **Check Apple Podcasts setup** with an error text: correct the token and save again.
* The sidebar marks **Reach** as **Not yet**, and the **Channels** page shows **We are still building this**: the podcast already exists. The workspace has no Apple Podcasts action for it. Use the **Apple Podcasts** tile on the **Exports** tab in the classic view.
* You need **Submit**, the **Pending** and **Published** states, the **Apple Podcasts ID** field, or **Archive podcast**: these parts of the job exist only in the classic view.
  {% endtab %}
  {% endtabs %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podigee.com/documentation/create-and-publish/publishing-and-distribution/submit-to-apple-podcasts.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
