Use this task to learn how single episodes perform. You can list every episode with its downloads, open the analytics of one episode, and compare the launch of several episodes. ## Before you start * Open the podcast in Analytics. * To compare episodes, use Scale and above, or an older plan that includes it. The episode list and the single episode analytics are available on every plan. {% tabs %} {% tab title="Classic view" %} ### Complete the task #### List all episodes 1. On the podcast page, select the link **show all** next to the episode count. 2. Read the page **Episodes overview** with the columns **Episode title**, **Downloads & Streams**, and **Published at**. 3. Change the date range to see the downloads of each episode in another period. 4. Scroll down to load more episodes. The list loads 50 episodes at a time. #### Open one episode 1. In the **Episodes overview**, select an episode. 2. Read the episode page. It shows the same downloads chart, table, date range picker, and breakdowns as the podcast page. It has no overview box and no **Top 5 Episodes** table. 3. Select **Since published** in the date range picker to see the full life of the episode. The period starts on the publication day and ends today. #### Compare several episodes 1. In the **Episodes overview**, select **Compare Episodes**. 2. On the page **Comparison**, read the chart **Episode comparison since publication**. Each line shows the daily downloads of one episode after its publication. 3. In the day selector, choose **7 days**, **14 days**, **30 days**, or **90 days**. The default is **90 days**. 4. Read the bar chart **Episodes audience engagement in the first 7 days**. Switch it to **30 days** to see a longer launch window. Select **What's this?** for the in-app explanation. 5. Use the table with **Episode title** and **Published at** to identify the episodes in the charts. ### Expected result The episode list shows each episode with its downloads in the selected period. The episode page shows downloads over time and the breakdowns for one episode. The comparison shows which episodes had the strongest downloads in their first days. ### If you cannot complete the task * If **Compare Episodes** is disabled and shows **Advanced analytics features are available on higher current plans.**, your plan does not include the comparison. Select **Compare features** or **Upgrade** on the comparison page to compare plans. * If an episode is missing in the comparison and the page shows **Only episodes published within your analytics history window can be compared on this plan.**, the episode was published before your analytics history starts. On the podcast page in **Analytics**, select the episode count link below the podcast name, for example **1 episode**. You can also select **Episodes** in the Analytics sidebar group. 2. Read the page **Episodes overview** with the table **All episodes** and the columns **#**, **Episode**, **Published**, and **Downloads**. The footer reads **Sorted by Downloads, descending.** 3. Use **Search for...** to find an episode. Select a column heading to change the sort order. 4. Change the timeframe to see the downloads of each episode in another period. The note **Applies to this list** tells you the scope. 5. Use the pager in the footer to open more episodes. In the table **All episodes**, select the episode title. 2. Read the episode page. Its heading carries the **Episode** kicker and the episode number. The page shows the same timeframe bar and the number **Downloads & Streams**. 3. Select **Since published** in the timeframe bar to see the full life of the episode. The period starts on the publication day and ends today. #### Compare several episodes 1. On the **Episodes overview** page, select **Compare episodes**. 2. On the page **Episode comparison**, select the episodes to compare in the picker under **Episode comparison since publication**. The picker shows five episodes a page, newest first, and accepts up to ten episodes. 3. In **Comparison window**, choose **7 days**, **14 days**, **30 days**, or **90 days**. The default is **90 days**. 4. Read the chart **Downloads by day since publication**. Each line shows the daily downloads of one episode after its publication. The note reads **The horizontal axis is days since publication, not calendar dates.** 5. Read the bar chart **Audience engagement in the first 7 days**. In **Launch window**, switch to **30 days** to see a longer launch window. The note tells you that episodes without downloads are not shown. ### Expected result * The episode list shows each episode with its downloads in the selected period, sorted by downloads. * The episode page shows the downloads of one episode over time. * The comparison shows which of the selected episodes had the strongest downloads in their first days. * On a plan that includes it, **Export CSV** on the **Episodes overview** page and on the comparison page downloads the table as a CSV file. ### If you cannot complete the task * **Compare episodes** is disabled with **Episode comparison is included from the Scale plan.**, or the comparison page shows **Episode comparison and weekly reports are part of Premium insights & export.**: your plan does not include the comparison. Select **Compare plans** to compare plans. * **Export CSV** is disabled with **CSV export is included from the Scale plan.**: your plan does not include the export. * The page shows **No published episodes yet.**: analytics start with the first public episode. Drafts and scheduled episodes are not counted. * The comparison page shows **Only episodes published within your analytics history window can be compared on this plan.**: episodes published before your analytics history starts are missing from the picker. See [Understand analytics history by plan](/documentation/grow-and-monetize/analytics/understand-analytics-history-by-plan.md). * The comparison page shows **Not enough episodes to compare.**: the comparison needs at least two published episodes. * The chart shows **Nothing to compare yet.**: select at least one episode with downloads. * The picker shows **Ten episodes at once is the maximum. Uncheck one to compare another.**: remove an episode from the selection first. * The page shows **Those episodes aren't available any more.**: an episode of the selection was unpublished, or the link is out of date. Search and select the episodes again. * **Export CSV** answers **That export didn't start. Nothing has been sent. Try again?**: select **Export CSV** again. What is different: * The list has pages and is sorted by downloads. It does not load more episodes when you scroll. * The columns are **Episode**, **Published**, and **Downloads**, and the header buttons are **Compare episodes** and **Export CSV**. * On the comparison page, you select the episodes to compare, up to ten.
