# Assess first-party podcast supply

Check which Podigee shows, media formats, rights, delivery methods, and volume estimates can become sellable inventory.

First-party supply is podcast content that your organization manages in Podigee. Before you offer this content through the Podigee Audio Video Ad Server, confirm that the show, media, rights, delivery methods, and expected volume are ready.

This assessment prevents a sales team from offering supply that Podigee cannot deliver or that a publisher does not permit for advertising.

## Before you start

You need:

* Access to **Monetization**.
* Edit access to the shows that you want to assess.
* At least one published episode with processed audio or video.
* Current publisher and representation authority.
* The active publisher rules for the show.
* Recent podcast analytics to support your capacity estimate.

## 1. Open the available supply

1. Go to **Monetization > Inventory**.
2. Select **Prepare sellable inventory**.
3. Open the **OnePodigee show** list.

The list contains only shows that you can edit and that have verified delivery files. The label shows whether each source currently has ready **Audio**, **Video**, or **Audio + Video**.

![The eligible show list with Harbor and Pine Business Review available for audio and video inventory.](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-30c681b9b60126ce0863bb05a1d706a96b2dca39%2Fdoc-monetization-022-eligible-show-list.jpg?alt=media)

*The show list exposes only editable sources with verified delivery media and labels the available formats.*

If a show is missing, do not create a replacement record in Monetization. Return to the podcast, check its episode and media state, and repair the source first.

## 2. Check the source media

Select the show and review the available media checkboxes.

* **Audio** means Podigee has a current audio source that can support podcast audio delivery.
* **Video** means Podigee has a current video source that can support the listed video delivery methods.
* **Audio + Video** means both sources are ready. You can still prepare an audio-only or video-only offer when the commercial use requires it.

Podigee binds the assessment to exact content and media versions. A media file that was replaced, revoked, or superseded does not remain valid only because an older version passed a prior check.

## 3. Confirm the right to sell the content

Technical access to a file is not enough. Confirm that the active authority and publisher rules permit the proposed commercial use.

Check:

* Which legal business owns or represents the supply.
* Whether the show can carry advertising.
* Whether audio, video, or both may be monetized.
* Whether the selected markets are permitted.
* Whether any brand, category, demand source, or format restrictions apply.
* Whether a limited representation agreement expires during the planned sales window.

Leave private, ad-free, or contractually excluded content out of the package. A private podcast can still be delivered to its authorized audience, but private access does not create permission to sell advertising. An ad-free policy must remain in force until an authorized person changes it.

## 4. Check delivery and measurement

Every format needs a delivery method and a measurement rule that can support the commercial unit.

| Format | Typical delivery method | Capacity unit |
| ------------------------ | ------------------------ | -------------------------- |
| **Audio** | Podcast audio delivery | Qualified audio impression |
| **Video** | Podigee video streaming | Video start |
| **Apple Podcasts video** | Apple Podcasts video ads | Video start |

The available methods appear on the Inventory package card after you prepare a draft. Do not sell a format when no listed method can deliver and measure the promised unit.

Some external platforms control final delivery and measurement. A first-party Podigee media file does not by itself prove that an external platform integration is active. Check the platform connection and its current capability before you include that platform in a commercial promise.

## 5. Estimate available volume

Use recent show and episode analytics to estimate the supply that can occur during the sales window. Review downloads or video starts, publishing frequency, audience trend, eligible markets, ad-break coverage, and the number of slots in each break.

Keep the estimate conservative:

1. Start with observed delivery for a comparable period.
2. Include only episodes and markets that the package can use.
3. Apply the available break and slot capacity.
4. Remove supply that is already reserved or excluded by policy.
5. Select **Low**, **Medium**, or **High** confidence according to the quality of the evidence.

The capacity entry is an operator estimate. It is not a guarantee. Forecasting later combines this authority with Campaign dates, targeting, reservations, and current delivery evidence.

Also enter the estimated delivery cost per 1,000 for each selected media type. This cost helps Podigee compare the commercial value of audio and video supply. It does not include the media spend that an advertiser pays.

## 6. Run the sellability check

Prepare an Inventory package draft, then select **Check sellability**. Podigee checks the exact draft version for:

* Current content authority.
* Ready source media for every selected format.
* Supported delivery and measurement.
* Positive capacity.
* Delivery cost evidence.
* A valid market and sales window.

The result **Ready for commercial approval** means that the supply facts passed this check. It does not publish the package. Complete the required review and publication step before any Campaign can book it.

*The readiness result separates a checked draft from a package that is already published and ready for booking.*

## Understand common supply states

| State | What it means | What to do |
| --------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Ready** | Current authority and delivery-ready media exist for the selected format. | Add the source to a draft and run the sellability check. |
| **Unsupported** | The requested format or delivery method cannot support the required commercial unit. | Remove the format or complete a supported delivery setup. |
| **Private** | Audience access is restricted. Commercial use needs separate authority and policy approval. | Confirm the rights and keep the content excluded unless advertising is permitted. |
| **Ad-free** | Publisher policy excludes advertising. | Do not include it. Change the policy only through an authorized review. |
| **Stale** | The content, media, authority, or package version changed after the prior assessment. | Review the current version and run the check again. |
| **Incomplete** | Media processing, authority, capacity, cost, market, or date information is missing. | Complete the named input, then run the check again. |
| **Revoked** | The source or commercial authority is no longer valid. | Keep the supply out of sale until a current authority is established. |

## If a show or format is missing

* Confirm that the episode is published.
* Confirm that audio or video processing completed successfully.
* Confirm that the source file is current and not revoked or superseded.
* Confirm that you can edit the show in the selected workspace scope.
* Confirm that the workspace has current content and representation authority.
* Confirm that the publisher rules allow advertising for the show.
* Open **Podcast > Analytics** and verify that enough current evidence exists for a useful volume estimate.
* Return to **Monetization > Inventory** and open the show list again.

## Result

You know which first-party shows and formats can support a commercial offer. You also have the rights, delivery, measurement, volume, and cost information needed to prepare a controlled Inventory package.

Next, create and publish an Inventory package from the supply that passed this assessment.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podigee.com/documentation/grow-and-monetize/monetization/assess-first-party-podcast-supply.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
