# Assign and rotate Creatives

Assign approved audio and video Creatives to Flights, set relative rotation weights, replace renditions, and find coverage gaps.

The Podigee Audio Video Ad Server assigns an exact prepared Creative rendition to an exact Flight. Podigee checks the media format, rights, markets, delivery use, and editorial approval before it accepts the assignment.

Complete this task after the Campaign and its Flights are ready for Creative coverage.

## Understand the assignment level

Assign Creatives to each Flight. Do not assign one Creative to the Campaign and assume that it covers every Flight.

A Flight defines the relevant:

* Delivery period.
* Audio or video goal.
* Inventory package.
* Markets and targeting.
* Delivery destinations.

An audio rendition can cover an audio Flight and still be invalid for a video Flight. A Creative can also be valid for one market or period and invalid for another.

## Open the Creative assignment

1. Open **Monetization**.
2. Select **Campaigns**.
3. Open the Campaign.
4. Find the required Flight in the **Flights** section.
5. Select **Assign Creative**.

*Manage Creative coverage separately for each Flight.*

The assignment window comes from the Flight and the valid Creative evidence. Check that the shown period is correct before you continue.

## Choose an eligible rendition

Podigee shows the exact prepared renditions that can cover the Flight. It does not show an unprepared master as if it were ready to run.

1. Search by Creative name, brand, or filename when the list is long.
2. Select the required Creative rendition.
3. Check the version, delivery use, and brand.
4. Open **Preview**.
5. Play the media and confirm that it is the correct ad.

*Preview the prepared media before you assign it.*

## Set the rotation weight

The current Campaign workflow uses weighted rotation. A weight is relative to the weights of the other eligible assignments on the same Flight.

Use these examples:

| Creative A | Creative B | Approximate share when both are eligible |
| ---------: | ---------: | ---------------------------------------: |
|          1 |          1 |                50 percent and 50 percent |
|          3 |          1 |                75 percent and 25 percent |
|          1 |          4 |                20 percent and 80 percent |

These shares are selection proportions, not delivery guarantees. Targeting, frequency limits, separation, rights, availability, and other eligibility rules can change the final result.

Use **1** for each Creative when you want an even starting weight. Use small whole numbers when possible. They are easier for another operator to understand.

The current assignment screen does not offer sequential rotation. Use weighted rotation for Campaign Creative assignments.

## Complete the assignment

1. Confirm the exact rendition.
2. Enter the rotation weight.
3. Select **Assign exact rendition**.
4. Return to the Campaign.
5. Confirm that the Flight shows the assigned Creative and **Ready** state.

Podigee records the exact Creative version, prepared rendition, rights evidence, approval, Flight, assignment window, and weight. An earlier Creative version does not change when a later version is uploaded.

## Add more than one Creative

Open **Assign Creative** again for the same Flight. Select another eligible rendition and give it a relative weight.

Before you add another Creative, confirm that:

* It represents the same buyer intent or an approved rotation plan.
* Its rights cover the complete required period and markets.
* Its media format matches the Flight.
* Its brand and category are permitted by publisher rules.
* Its weight has a clear business meaning.

Podigee removes an exact rendition from the eligible list when that exact assignment already exists. This prevents accidental duplicate assignment.

## Replace a rendition

Do not overwrite delivered media. Prepare and approve the new Creative version or rendition first.

Then:

1. Open the owning Campaign and Flight.
2. Select **Assign Creative**.
3. Select the eligible replacement rendition.
4. Preview it.
5. Confirm the weight.
6. Complete the assignment.

When the new rendition replaces the same delivery role, Podigee records the previous assignment as the predecessor. The earlier evidence remains connected to the earlier delivery.

Run launch checks again before you publish a changed setup.

## Understand expiry

An assignment is usable only while all required evidence remains valid. The effective coverage can end when the Flight ends, the Campaign ends, usage rights expire, approval expires, or the exact rendition becomes unavailable.

Do not extend a Campaign and assume that its Creative coverage also extends. Check the new period and obtain updated rights when necessary.

## Find and fix coverage gaps

Podigee shows a warning when no Creative is eligible. It also lists the blocked Creative and the reason.

![The current One Podigee Assign creative window rejects an audio-only Creative for a video Flight and explains the coverage gap.](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-6733a5cccc85ca063285b9bdea7c575ce98e91af%2Fdoc-monetization-048-coverage-gap.jpg?alt=media)

*Use the stated reason to prepare the correct media or rights instead of bypassing the gap.*

Common blockers include:

| Blocker                                          | Meaning                                                        | Safe action                                                              |
| ------------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| The master is not clean and ready | Media preparation or malware scanning is incomplete or failed. | Open the Creative and finish media checks. |
| No validated rendition exists | Podigee does not have a prepared format for this delivery use. | Prepare the required audio or video rendition. |
| Editorial approval is missing or expired | The exact Creative version does not have valid approval. | Complete the configured review. |
| Rights do not cover the Flight, market, or media | The rights evidence is too narrow or expired. | Add authorized rights for the required scope and review the new version. |
| The rendition is incompatible with this Flight | The media kind or delivery profile does not match. | Use a matching rendition or upload the required master. |
| The Creative belongs to another brand | The assignment conflicts with the Flight or publisher policy. | Select the correct brand Creative or change the governed Campaign plan. |
| A UniversalAdID is required | A connected demand provider needs an identifier and registry. | Add the issuer-provided identifier pair to a valid Creative version. |
| Targeting does not match | The Creative markets do not overlap the Flight targeting. | Use a Creative with valid market coverage. |

Do not hide a gap with a weight of zero or an unrelated Creative. Correct the missing media, approval, rights, or Campaign scope.

## Expected result

Each Flight has the correct number of eligible audio or video Creative assignments. Every assigned rendition can be previewed, has a clear relative weight, and covers the required period, markets, and delivery use.

Next, resolve any Creative coverage exception that remains.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podigee.com/documentation/grow-and-monetize/monetization/assign-and-rotate-creatives.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
