# Reserve and change capacity

Protect forecast supply for a Campaign Flight, then release or replace capacity safely when the plan changes.

Use a capacity reservation when a Campaign Flight has a commercial promise that needs protected supply. The Podigee Audio Video Ad Server checks availability again when you reserve. It does not rely only on the forecast that you reviewed earlier.

A reservation protects supply. It does not prove delivery, create an invoice, or count revenue as earned. Delivery and money evidence are created later from actual ad delivery.

## Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure that you have these items:

* Permission to reserve capacity in Monetization.
* A Campaign with a current Flight and published Inventory package.
* A current forecast that can cover the full Flight goal.
* The forecast that you want to use is selected.
* The correct review rule for your workspace.

## Select the forecast

1. Open **Monetization**.
2. Select **Campaigns**.
3. Open the required Campaign.
4. Select **Check and reserve capacity**.
5. Find the required Flight.
6. Review the delivery, revenue, cost, confidence, and risk values.
7. Select **Use this forecast**.

If the forecast is stale, select **Refresh forecast**. Review the new result, then select it. An earlier selection cannot be used for a new reservation after its validity period ends.

## Review the reservation

1. Select **Reserve capacity**.
2. Confirm the Flight name.
3. Confirm the requested quantity and billable unit.
4. Confirm that available supply covers the requested quantity.
5. Check when the forecast expires.
6. Check how long each booking type protects capacity.
7. Select the required booking type.

### Choose a booking type

| Booking type          | Use it when                                      | Protection period                                                      | Review behavior                       |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------- |
| Soft reservation      | The sale is still being prepared and can change. | Until the selected forecast expires.                                   | It does not need a capacity review.   |
| Guaranteed commitment | The Campaign has a firm commercial promise.      | Through the Flight schedule, unless you release or replace it earlier. | It follows the workspace review rule. |

Your workspace can use one of these review patterns for a guaranteed commitment:

* You confirm the decision yourself.
* A separate review is optional.
* A different authorized person must approve the commitment.

A solo operator can use the self-confirmation rule. A workspace does not need a second person unless its administrators choose that rule.

## Reserve the capacity

1. Complete the confirmation or required review.
2. Select **Reserve capacity**.
3. Wait for the Capacity page to return.
4. Confirm that the Flight status is **Reserved** or **Reserved, awaiting publication**.
5. Confirm the reservation type, protected quantity, protection end, and version.

Podigee locks the relevant capacity while it completes the command. If another reservation changed the available amount, the command stops. The current capacity state stays unchanged, and you must refresh the forecast.

## Reserve less than the Flight goal

Podigee does not silently reserve only part of a Flight goal. The protected quantity must match the selected forecast and the current Flight goal.

If available supply cannot cover the full goal:

1. Open the Flight editor.
2. Reduce the goal, or select suitable Inventory with enough capacity.
3. Save the new Flight version.
4. Calculate and review a new forecast.
5. Select the new forecast.
6. Reserve the capacity.

This sequence keeps the buyer promise, forecast, reservation, and later delivery evidence aligned.

## Change a reservation

Use **Change reservation** when you need to release some or all of the protected supply.

*A change uses the current reservation version. A stale or conflicting request cannot overwrite a newer state.*

### Release part of the capacity

1. Select **Change reservation**.
2. Select **Release part of the capacity**.
3. Enter the quantity to release.
4. Select the reason.
5. Set the effective time.
6. Select **Apply change**.
7. Confirm that the status is **Partially released**.

The quantity to release must be greater than zero and lower than the current reserved quantity. The remaining quantity stays protected.

### Release all capacity

1. Select **Change reservation**.
2. Select **Release all capacity**.
3. Select the reason.
4. Set the effective time.
5. Select **Apply change**.
6. Confirm that the reservation no longer protects supply.

Do not enter a release quantity for a full release.

### Apply a change now or later

Use the current time when the supply can return to the pool now. Use a future time when the change must take effect at a known operational boundary. A scheduled change cannot start after the reservation expires.

## Replace capacity after a Flight change

A saved Flight adjustment creates a new Flight version. The earlier reservation remains tied to the current delivery setup until the replacement succeeds.

1. Calculate a forecast for the new Flight version.
2. Review the new result and any changed risk.
3. Select the new forecast.
4. Reserve the new capacity.
5. Confirm the capacity handover notice.

Podigee reclaims eligible capacity from the earlier reservation during the atomic replacement. It does not double-book the old and new versions.

## Expiry and continued protection

* A soft reservation ends with the selected forecast validity period.
* A guaranteed commitment ends with the Flight schedule unless it is released or replaced earlier.
* An expired forecast does not cancel an active guaranteed reservation.
* Refreshing a planning forecast does not change, release, or extend an existing reservation.
* To extend a Flight, save the new schedule, calculate a new forecast, and create a replacement reservation.

## Solve common problems

| Problem                                           | Cause                                                                     | Safe action                                                                                            |

| **Reserve capacity** is not available             | The forecast is missing, stale, not selected, or insufficient.            | Refresh the forecast, correct the Flight or Inventory, then select the new result.                     |
| The reservation stops because capacity changed    | Another valid allocation changed the available supply.                    | Refresh the forecast. Do not reuse the earlier result.                                                 |
| A guaranteed commitment needs review              | The workspace uses independent review.                                    | Send the exact reservation for review, or create a soft reservation while the sale is still tentative. |
| The confirmation control is shown                 | The workspace uses solo confirmation for guaranteed capacity.             | Confirm the decision yourself if you have the authority.                                               |
| The partial release is rejected                   | The quantity is missing, zero, or not lower than the current reservation. | Enter a valid smaller quantity and try again.                                                          |
| The change form says that the reservation changed | Another operator or command created a newer reservation version.          | Refresh the page, review the current quantity, and submit a new change.                                |
| The reservation expired                           | Its protection period ended.                                              | Calculate a current forecast and create a new reservation.                                             |

## Expected result

The required Flight has a current, versioned capacity reservation. Its quantity, booking type, protection period, and state are visible. Any release or replacement preserves the earlier state until the new command succeeds, and the released supply returns to the available pool.
