# Review and approve exact ad breaks

Confirm exact audio and video ad-break placements, use the correct review rule, and recover when episode media changes.

The Podigee Audio Video Ad Server keeps every approval tied to an exact ad-break placement and the exact episode media that you reviewed. This protects the editorial decision when an episode changes.

Use this task after an operator saves the position, capacity, and fallback rules in Break Canvas. Approval confirms the editorial placement. It does not confirm campaign delivery or revenue.

## Before you start

You need:

* Access to **Monetization** and permission to review episode breaks.
* Saved ad-break placements for the current episode revision.
* Ready audio or video sources for the episode.
* Publisher authority for the selected episode.
* A configured review rule for the workspace.

## 1. Open the prepared episode

1. Go to **Monetization > Inventory**.
2. Select **Review episode breaks**.
3. Select the episode under **Episode and media**.
4. Check the episode revision and each audio or video source revision.
5. Inspect the saved position, capacity, fallback rules, and editorial note for each break.
6. Audition a boundary again if you need to confirm the transition.

Review the exact saved values. Do not approve a placement only because its label says pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll.

## 2. Select the placements that you reviewed

The confirmation area lists one placement for each exact audio or video source. A single episode can therefore show more than one item for the same commercial break.

1. Select each exact placement that you reviewed.
2. Leave an uncertain placement unselected.
3. Check the source type, source revision, break type, and position.
4. Confirm that the selected items belong to the same episode revision that you inspected.

## 3. Follow the workspace review rule

The available action depends on the review rule that your organization selected.

### Confirm your own work

Use this mode when the workspace permits an operator to confirm the operator's own exact work. This mode also supports an individual who operates the Podigee Ad Server alone.

1. Select the finished placements.
2. Select **Confirm and use placements**.
3. Check that Podigee reports that the exact placements are ready for the next serving release.

### Use an optional review

Use this mode when another person can review the work but review is not required.

* Select **Use without review** when the placement is ready and you have authority to use it.
* Select **Request optional review** when another person should inspect it.

An optional review does not block the selected placement. A reviewer can still return or reject the review request without changing a placement that was already authorized for use.

### Request an independent review

Use this mode when the workspace requires separation between preparation and approval.

1. Select the exact placements.
2. Select **Request an independent review**.
3. Wait for a different authorized person to review the request.
4. Ask the reviewer to approve, return, or reject each exact placement.

The person who prepared the placement cannot approve the same request. A pending placement stays locked and cannot become eligible until a different authorized reviewer approves it.

## 4. Check the result

After confirmation or approval:

* The break shows **Approved**.
* Each approved audio or video source binding shows **Approved**.
* The exact position and capacity controls are locked.
* The audition control remains available for inspection.
* The approved version is ready for a serving release.

## When audio and video have different durations

Podigee keeps one editorial break intent but validates each source separately.

* A pre-roll starts at the beginning of every selected source.
* A post-roll uses the exact end of each selected source.
* A mid-roll must be inside every selected source. Podigee limits shared suggestions to the shorter source duration.
* A custom position is rejected if it falls outside any selected source.

Inspect both formats when the audio and video edits differ. Use separate placements when one shared editorial boundary is not suitable for both formats.

## When episode media changes

Approval applies only to the media revision that the reviewer inspected. A new audio or video source makes the earlier binding stale.

1. Open the episode in Break Canvas.
2. Check the stale-media notice.
3. Select the current source revisions.
4. Rebind the saved placement to the current media.
5. Confirm that the position and capacity remain correct.
6. Audition the boundary against the new media.
7. Submit the current exact placement through the applicable review rule.

Podigee preserves the earlier approved version in history. It does not transfer the earlier approval to changed media.

## If approval is unavailable

* **No review action appears:** Ask an administrator to configure the workspace review rule.
* **Publisher authority is missing:** Ask an authorized administrator to add the publisher policy for the episode or show.
* **A placement is stale:** Rebind it to the current source revision and review it again.
* **A position is outside a source:** Move it inside every selected source duration.
* **You cannot approve your own request:** A different authorized person must decide it under the enforced independent-review rule.
* **The reviewer returns a placement:** Correct the stated problem, save a new exact version, and submit that version again.
* **The reviewer rejects one placement:** Keep approved placements unchanged. Prepare a corrected version only for the rejected placement.
* **The source cannot be inspected:** Do not approve the placement. Restore a playable current source or ask an authorized administrator for help.

## Result

The selected audio and video placements have a recorded editorial decision for the exact episode media. Approved placements are locked and ready for the next serving release.
