# Set currencies, markets, and controlled values

Set workspace currencies and use controlled choices for markets, languages, categories, and identifiers.

This task shows how to configure currencies in the Podigee Audio Video Ad Server. It also shows how operators select markets, languages, categories, and other controlled values in Monetization.

These controls keep reporting, targeting, rights, and commercial records consistent.

## Before you start

You need:

* An active Monetization workspace.
* Workspace administrator access to change workspace currencies.
* The currencies that your team uses for new commercial work.
* The confirmed countries, language, and content categories for each record that you create.

You do not need to create a separate list of markets, languages, or categories. Podigee provides these choices in the forms that use them.

## Understand where each value is set

Podigee uses two types of controlled values:

* **Workspace currencies** are managed in **Monetization settings**. Operators can use only the enabled currencies in new commercial records.
* **Record values** are selected when an operator creates a Campaign, Creative, Inventory package, policy, or commercial term. Examples include markets, languages, content categories, pricing models, ad positions, and identifier registries.

Do not enter several values as comma-separated text. Use the provided single-select or multi-select control. This method prevents spelling differences and unsupported codes.

## 1. Review workspace currencies

1. Open **Monetization**.
2. Go to **Monetization settings**.
3. Find **Currencies**.
4. Review **Default currency** and **Enabled currencies**.

![Workspace currency settings with EUR as the default and EUR, GBP, and USD enabled.](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-385dcff7f0ec5c780df37dcd148b985fed4e8fc6%2Fdoc-monetization-012-currency-settings.jpg?alt=media)

*The default currency appears first in new commercial work. Enabled currencies remain available as alternatives.*

The default workspace starts with EUR, USD, and GBP. An administrator can enable another supported ISO 4217 currency when the business needs it.

## 2. Add a currency and make it the default

1. Under **Add another currency**, select the currency that you need.
2. Select **Save currency settings**.
3. In **Default currency**, select the newly enabled currency.
4. Select **Save currency settings** again.
5. Confirm that **Currency settings saved** appears.

![Workspace currency settings with CHF selected as the default and CHF, EUR, GBP, and USD enabled.](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-c94715defbb5e3b061b3f26a4969f570c305e47c%2Fdoc-monetization-012-currency-settings-saved.jpg?alt=media)

*CHF is now the default for new commercial work. The other enabled currencies remain available.*

Changing the default affects new commercial work. It does not convert the currency of an existing Campaign, order, invoice, or settlement record.

## 3. Remove a currency from new forms

1. Find the currency under **Enabled currencies**.
2. Clear its checkbox.
3. Select **Save currency settings**.

You cannot remove the current default. Select another default first, save the change, and then remove the old currency.

Removing a currency hides it from new forms. Existing records keep their exact currency.

## 4. Select Campaign markets

Markets define the countries in which a Campaign may run.

1. Go to **Monetization > Campaigns**.
2. Select **Build campaign proposal**.
3. Open **Markets**.
4. Search by country name or country code.
5. Select each country in which the Campaign may run.

![A Campaign market selector filtered to Germany, with three markets selected and CHF as the Campaign currency.](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-1aa6c47e7adb926eb887ea934a26dc179f60b95d%2Fdoc-monetization-012-market-selector.jpg?alt=media)

*Search and select countries from the managed list. CHF is the workspace default for this Campaign.*

The control shows the number of selected markets. Open it again to review or remove a country. Use the legal and commercial scope of the Campaign as the source for this selection.

## 5. Select Campaign content categories

Content categories define the governed types of content that a Campaign may target.

1. In the Campaign proposal, find **Content categories**.
2. Open the selector.
3. Search for a category or review the managed list.
4. Select every category that the Campaign may target.

![The Campaign content category selector with standard choices such as Arts and entertainment, Automotive, and Business.](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-89f8dc11106d81a98c17b436fff5fd8a821b6586%2Fdoc-monetization-012-category-selector.jpg?alt=media)

*Use the standard category names. Do not create a spelling variation or an approximate custom value.*

If the correct category is not available, do not select an unrelated category. Ask a workspace administrator or Podigee Support to confirm the correct classification.

## 6. Select Creative language and rights markets

The Creative language describes the spoken or primary language of that Creative version. The Creative markets describe where the rights grant permits advertising use.

1. Go to **Monetization > Creatives**.
2. Select **Upload master**.
3. Select the Creative language from **Language**.
4. Open **Markets** and select every country covered by the confirmed rights.
5. Select the identifier registry if the Creative uses a UniversalAdID.

![A Creative upload form with German as the language, three rights markets, and a controlled UniversalAdID registry.](https://2032417310-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FbqUKO6lljHGzkEAzliPI%2Fuploads%2Fgit-blob-4e1af4b842aa4842c7e164cfa4cb96500540bd7b%2Fdoc-monetization-012-language-and-market-selectors.jpg?alt=media)

*Language, rights markets, and the identifier registry use controlled choices in the Creative form.*

Create a separate Creative version when the media, language, or rights scope is different. Do not use one version to represent several different rights grants.

## Use other controlled values

Monetization also provides managed choices for values such as:

* Delivery destination and media format.
* Pricing model and billable unit.
* Ad position and break type.
* Identifier registry.
* Review and policy type.

Select the value that matches the real agreement or delivery method. If a required value is missing, stop the form and confirm the correct workspace setup or integration. Do not enter an approximation only to complete the form.

## If a currency change does not save

* **You do not have permission:** Ask a workspace administrator to make the change.
* **The currency is not supported:** Select a currency from the provided list.
* **The default is not enabled:** Enable the currency before you make it the default.
* **The settings changed in another session:** Review the current values, repeat your intended change, and save again.

Podigee keeps the previous valid settings when a save fails.

## Result

New commercial work starts with the correct workspace currency. Operators select markets, languages, categories, and other governed values from consistent lists instead of free text.

Next, record who may sell the inventory and who receives the revenue.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podigee.com/documentation/grow-and-monetize/monetization/set-currencies-markets-and-controlled-values.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
