# Preview an RSS import

Inspect feed reachability, title, episode count, duration, target, and filters before import.

Always preview the feed before you confirm an import.

## Before you start

* Prepare the feed URL and target account.
* Keep the target podcast ID when importing into an existing podcast.
* Choose an episode limit and no-audio behavior.

## Preview the import

1. Call `import_podcast` with the feed URL and `dry_run: true`.
2. Add `podcast_id` and `confirm_existing_podcast: true` for an existing workspace.
3. Add `episode_limit` from 1 to 1,000 when you want fewer than the maximum.
4. Set `skip_episodes_without_audio` to the intended value.
5. Confirm that `feed.reachable` is `true`.
6. Review the feed title, total episode count, and total duration when available.
7. Compare the total count with the requested episode limit.
8. Review the exact target, filters, request digest, and confirmation.

The preview reports the feed's total episode count. It does not promise an exact count after no-audio entries are skipped. Verify the final imported IDs after completion.

## Expected result

The preview identifies a reachable feed and shows enough source and target context for a deliberate confirmation.

## If the feed is unreachable

Do not confirm the import. Follow the returned error, correct the URL or feed access, and preview again.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podigee.com/documentation/start-here/ai-agents/import-a-podcast/preview-an-rss-import.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
