# Create a draft episode

Create and verify an unpublished episode record without uploading or publishing media.

Use `create_episode` when you need an episode record before the media and publishing workflow.

## Before you start

* Find the target podcast and confirm edit access.
* Prepare the episode metadata.
* Prepare one stable idempotency key.

## Create the draft

1. Ask your agent to preview `create_episode` with the podcast ID, attributes, and `dry_run: true`.
2. Review the normalized title, description, show notes, number, season, explicit setting, labels, keywords, and episode type.
3. Correct any validation error and preview again.
4. Submit the same request with `dry_run: false` and the stable idempotency key.
5. Keep the returned episode ID.
6. Read the episode and confirm that `published_at` is empty.

Creating a draft does not attach media or publish the episode. Use the end-to-end publishing workflow when media is ready.

## Expected result

Podigee creates one draft episode in the intended podcast and returns its current detail.

## If the response is interrupted

Retry the identical request with the same idempotency key. Then list drafts and check the returned or matching episode before you create anything new.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.podigee.com/documentation/start-here/ai-agents/manage-episodes/create-a-draft-episode.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
