# Resume an interrupted media upload

Inspect an existing upload session and transfer only the missing file parts.

Resume the existing upload instead of creating another session.

## Before you start

* Keep the upload ID and original local file.
* Reconnect to the same Podigee user and account.
* Confirm that the file still has the same size and content.

## Resume the upload

1. Call `get_upload` with the upload ID.
2. Confirm that the byte size and content type match the local file.
3. Continue only when the state is `pending` or `uploading`.
4. Review `completed_parts` and the expected part count.
5. Request a fresh URL for each missing part.
6. Transfer the exact bytes and headers for each missing part.
7. Call `complete_upload` after all parts are present.
8. Confirm that the state becomes `completed`.

## Expected result

Only missing parts are transferred, and the original session completes without duplicate declared bytes or active sessions.

## If the session cannot resume

* Wait when it is `initializing`, `completing`, or `aborting`.
* Use the completed upload when it is `completed`.
* Stop when it is `aborted`, `expired`, or `failed`.

Abort an eligible incomplete session when you no longer need it. Create a new session only after the old state is resolved.
